depends on the horse power of the motor as to the controller you would like to use ,,, on my x3 mill I us a 2 hp tread mill motor
a good controller for tread mill motors , model no KBIC-240D (9464B) INPUT 115/230 volts or VAC-50/60 hz ,,, output 0 - 90/180 vdc ,,, rated 6.0 amps dc current ,,, using an added heatsink the rating goes up to 12.0 amps direct current you will find them on flea-bay address KB ELECTRONICS. INC. CORAL SPRINGES, FL 33065 I picked 2 of these up on e-bay for about 60 dollars some years ago you may not find the exact model ,,, any of the kibic controllers will do the plus side they ar made in the states ,,, they are a nice small board 4/1/4 wide 3.3/4 depth front to back and aprox 2" deep and that's allowing for the wires standing up (connecting wires) ,,,just be carful the amps you draw though it ,,, this particular model I can run a three hp dc motor with an added heat sink . there again some one els might recommend a different controller , they are much as muchness
