OfflineThe Venice Beach community machine shop class is going to be extended into a short Summer term for the first time. Classes will be held for six weeks on Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:15, starting July 6.
This is not a traditional class. You bring in your own projects, work on what you want, and ask questions when you need help. Machine Shop skill levels range all over the board from the beginner to retired machinists.
For beginning machinists, there is also a General Metals class being held at El Camino College this summer, four days a week for six weeks beginning June 22. This will be a more structured class with lectures and set projects, but leads into some more advanced courses in the fall.
You can get more information about these classes and other SoCal programs by going to http://www.venicemachine.com

OfflineVenice California, on the Westside of Los Angeles, has a Machine Shop Class currently offered on Monday and Wednesday nights.
You work on your own projects and get help from the instructor when you need it. A great resource in a city of apartment dwellers!
The website for more info is:
This website also has lots of info about where to buy supplies and where to get shop space in West Los Angeles / Santa Monica areas.
I tried to post http://www.VeniceMachine.com on the MachinistBlog recypical links page, but the encrypted code system wasn't working. Regardless, http://www.MachinistBlog.com seems like a good resource, so I posted it at http://venicemachine.com/links/links.htm
